Evergreen isn’t what it seems.

Picture by How Far From Home on Pexel.

If only summer could last forever,
I would love you like no other
I’m not flawless but my love is yours
Wholeheartedly if you choose.

You turn me cold like winter,
the breeze chills my bones
It doesn’t feel reciprocated,
Even when I mirror your actions.

You want my heart opened like spring,
but close yours anytime I touch it,
How are we supposed to grow,
when you cut us down every chance you get.

I’d much rather feel like fall
And end up on the ground like the leaves,
Maybe then you’ll begin to understand
How fragile my love really is.
